Highlights of 2007 - FROM the AGM
  • We now have a number of club runs: Wednesdays at 7pm from Solent University;
    Mondays from the Cowherds at 6pm;
    Saturdays at 9.30 am from either the Sports Centre or Royal Victoria Country Park.
  • 9 Running Sisters ran in the Liverpool Half marathon in March.
  • Another very successful Beginners’ Course, with an excellent programme, good speakers and good support and help from lots of members.
  • London Marathon: 5 members ran the marathon –Alice Missions, Tina Dempster, Debbie Bale, Jackie Blake and Sally Gilbert. It was the hottest London marathon on record and a real challenge. Well done to all of them.
  • Race for Life in Southampton. Thanks to Sue Wilton for organising the marshalling. Lots of members helped on a very hot day.
  • RR10s: 37 members ran in at least 2 races. We had the largest number of teams from all the clubs. Thanks to those members who marshalled when it was our turn.
  • Royal Victoria Country Park 10k in May: 12 members ran in the race, and Kaye Lickfold hosted a very successful BBQ in the park. Thanks to her!
  • Great South Run: once again a number of members ran the Great South Run in terrible weather, high winds and rain. Especial congratulations to Margaret Whitfield who ran her first 10 miles in excellent time!
  • CC6s: quite a good turnout so far this year and no mud yet! Marshalls are required for 20th January 2008.
  • The Christmas Fancy Dress run last year took us to the German market in Above Bar where we had mugs of hot gluhwein with rum! We hope we will be able to do the same this year!
